JUDGES, COURTROOMS, AND PROSECUTORS
- $13.8 million in additional funding including:
- $1.5 million annually for an additional Criminal District Court
- $2.5 million for associate judges
- $8.6 million to move jury trials
- $12.7 million or 15% increase from FY 2019 - 2021 to fund:
- New Environmental Crimes Unit
- New prosecutors
- $786K for raises for entry & lower-level prosecutors
- $288K from Precinct 2 funds to keep intake positions & fund DA budget shortfall
- $27.1 million for community-based deterrence, mental health, & public health initiatives.
- $11 million for community-based violence deterrence programs
- $5 million for Holistic Assistance Response Teams (HART)
- $6 million for gun violence interruption program
- $3 million for nuisance abatement program to clear 1,100+ properties
- $2.1 million for domestic violence prevention and intervention
STOPPING CRIME BEFORE IT STARTS
- $8 million for Early Childhood Impact fund
- $4 million At-Risk Youth Reinvestment Fund for crime prevention
- $50 million to mitigate neighborhood blight and revitalize community infrastructure
- $2.25 million for summer education programs with Harris County Department of Education
- Over $30 million for Precinct 2 park upgrades, community center, improvements and trail safety
- $8 million for James Driver Inclusive Park
- $1.5 million for public wifi
- $8.4 million for new trails in FY 21-22
- $10 million in new sidewalks planned for 2023
- $462K for solar-powered lighting
- $75K to transform vacant lot into a pocket park in Aldine
- $1.25 million for afterschool and summer programming for youth
- $400K Precinct 2 workforce development programs
- $31 million countywide workforce development programs
- $200K for mental health support & treatment for first responders countywide
- $780K for Precinct 2 ShotSpotter Pilot Program for 3 years
- 200K Employ2Empower workforce development pilot program for homeless residents in Precinct 2
- $4.1 million for Access2Health SmartPods in Precinct 2
- $8.9 million for Harris Center suicide prevention program
- $37.5 million for countywide homeless rehousing program
- $2.15 million to expand Employ2Empower countywide
