Job Opportunity: Lifeguard Positions Now Open for Sylvan Beach

$16 per hour and no-cost certification available to anyone hired

Harris County, TX — With summer just around the corner, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia is looking for individuals who are 18 years of age or older to join the lifeguard staff at Sylvan Beach.

All those hired will receive Waterfront Lifeguard Certification at no cost. The purpose of the Waterfront skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in non-surf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps, and campgrounds. This course incorporates a blended learning format with classroom skills and water rescue activities.

“We know the pandemic put a financial strain on so many people, so I’m happy we’re able to provide a job opportunity with a starting salary of $16 per hour, which is significantly higher than other area beaches,” said Commissioner Adrian Garcia. “Anyone who meets the job requirements and wants to have a great summer job, I encourage you to apply for this opportunity. Safety is our top priority, and we need your help!”

As Commissioner Garcia says in his quote, new hires will be paid at least $16 per hour, well above the average hourly wage for lifeguards in the Houston-Galveston area. Full and part-time positions are available.

Anyone interested in applying should visit this link on or visit, click on the navigation bar, and select “I’D LIKE TO Find Job Opportunities.” Note, Precinct 2 facilities are still observing CDC guidance, including mask wearing and social distancing.
