In today’s subject, we will discuss what many people wonder about: What is Commissioners Court? Who participates in this court? Can anyone go to this? Knowing who your County Commissioner is and what happens in a Commissioners Court; is vital information that pertains to you as a Harris County constituent.

Congratulations to one of our most beloved bus drivers, Brenda Loper! After 25 years of service, Brenda is retiring from Harris County Precinct 2 Transportation Services.

According to TxDOT, 121 people were killed by drunk drivers in Harris County this year alone, making it the top county in Texas for DUI deaths. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reports Texas leads the nation with a total of 1,438 drunk driving deaths per year. As we approach the holidays, driving under the influence tends to rise, and it’s important we’re mindful of these statistics - if not for yourself, then for those around you. 

Can you imagine waking up on Christmas Day without any family nearby or any presents to open? Unfortunately, this is a situation that many people find themselves in every Christmas. However, every year our Special Programs team and the communities in Precinct 2 come together with the Adopt-a-Resident Program to make sure more people get to have a great holiday season. 

Commissioner Garcia understands there are vulnerable populations we cannot leave behind during this pandemic. Our team is working on several initiatives that would support our homeless and ensure they have resources they need during this time.
