Grand Opening of the Riley Chambers Health & Wellness Center

Recognizing the need for more health care access in Harris County Precinct 2, Commissioner Garcia has championed new initiatives to help residents live more healthy lives. Among the four precincts within Harris County, Precinct 2 has the highest number of children and adults who do not have health insurance. As an initial step toward making health care available to anyone who needs it, Commissioner Garcia welcomed the opening of the brand new Riley Chambers Health and Wellness Center in Barrett Station with a ribbon cutting and tour of the Wellness Center.

How our Community Relations team listens, gets involved, and takes action

Harris County Precinct 2 is a very big place. Encompassing 17 community centers, 15 different municipalities (including parts of Houston), 12 school districts and over 1,300 miles of roads within its boundaries, the precinct is an agglomeration of varying demographics, needs, talents, resources, and unique challenges. To accurately and meaningfully serve all of Precinct 2 communities, Commissioner Adrian Garcia began his term by hosting listening sessions and town halls designed to better understand the needs and concerns of precinct 2 constituents. The goal? To engage, educate, and empower the Precinct 2 community as a whole.

Commissioner Adrian Garcia on His First 8 Months

It has been just over 8 months since Adrian Garcia was sworn into office to be the next Harris County Commissioner of Precinct 2. Since that very first day, Commissioner Garcia has been working feverously to make Precinct 2 better than how he acquired it: increasing public health awareness, creating a program to connect youth and adults to educational opportunities, supporting bail reform, improving local drainage, just to name a few. Every day is a new opportunity to take on the day and make a difference for the people of Precinct 2.
