Commissioner Garcia Reopens A Number Of Precinct 2 Parks After Water And Soil Results

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Tuesday April 16, 2019-- Commissioner Adrian Garcia has reopened six of the eight Precinct 2 parks with waterfronts in the Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) incident area.

The decision to re-open the parks was made after testing results were received and verified by both Harris County Pollution Control and Harris Public Health indicated safe levels of recreation near or within the water parks listed below.

The following Parks are now open to the public: 

  • Sylvan Beach
  • Meadowbrook
  • Rio Villa Nature Trail
  • Clear Lake Park
  • Bay Area Park

The following three parks remain closed until further notice:

  • Juan Seguin
  • River Terrace
  • Moncrief

The parks were closed March 22nd to allow for soil and water testing after materials from the ITC incident entered the Houston Ship Channel.
