Harris County, TX— Friday, November 22, 2019- This week’s decision by Judge Rosenthal is bringing us closer to fixing Harris County broken system.  It is time we take our seat as a national leader in civil rights reform. I know the best way to keep our communities safe is having a multi-tiered approach that allows our District Attorney and law enforcement officers to focus on the most dangerous while enhancing a criminal justice system that promotes fairness for all. Let us be committed to our constitution that proclaims a person is innocent until proven guilty.

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – September 27, 2019 – This week Commissioner Adrian Garcia pushed for a study that could lead to the first Homestead Exemption since 2008.

The goal of the study was not to eliminate the program. Rather, the goal was to understand how the program works, understand its full cost with the impending revenue cap imposed by the Legislature, and discover ways it might be improved.

Harris County, TX — Today, Harris County Commissioners Court approved a number of historic measures on Tuesday’s agenda that will make a major difference in the health and safety of Precinct 2 residents, as well as those living in other regions of Harris County.

Harris County, TX — Following Judge Lina Hidalgo’s order to close all county parks to the public, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia has ordered all Precinct 2 parks to be closed to the public beginning this Thursday, April 9th at 8 p.m. To help prevent further spread of Covid-19, there will be no picnicking, no congregating or swimming permitted. The parks closures will remain in effect until Monday, April 13th at 8 a.m.

Harris County, TX—Late in the afternoon Friday Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas would become the first state in the U.S. to reject any additional refugees under President Trump’s policy to allow individual states to determine whether to continue to accept them. Using the excuse that, in his opinion, the Federal Government’s lack of Immigration Reform is to blame, Abbott is placing D.C. orthodoxy ahead of our shared Texas values -- by arguing that Texas “Texas cannot consent,” to refugee resettlement this fiscal year, he said.

Harris County, TX— Tuesday, October 8, 2019- “It is disappointing but not surprising Commissioner Cagle and Radack failed to show up today. It is their responsibility to show up, represent their constituents and be part of the process even if they do not agree with it.

Commissioner Adrian Garcia is urging private, state and federal agencies to work together and provide timely and accurate information to Harris County officials so that the public can be effectively informed about the current situation at the Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) Deer Park facility.

In Partnership with the Houston Food Bank Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia will host two more Food Fair for veterans and employees impacted by the Federal Government’s shutdown.
